Keeping informed is critical to the successful lawyer. Providing timely practice related information, such as updates on the law and procedural changes in the courts, is one of the key services the Association provides.

There is no better place to network than the County Bar Association. Participation in Bar activities offers you many opportunities to meet fellow lawyers and develop new business relationships. Make yourself known by joining a committee, or speaking at a seminar. The Bar also offers you opportunities to develop clients through panel membership in our Lawyer Referral and Information Services and through arbitration and mediation opportunities with our Dispute Resolution Services.

Bar Membership provides opportunities for judges and attorneys to come together at social and educational events, as well as participate in the work of our law sections and committees. Through participation in these forums, you will meet judges and lawyers who share your interests and concerns, develop important referral and support networks, hear a wide variety of expert speakers, pick up helpful practice tips, obtain office and staff management advice and help improve the laws and administrative procedures which govern your practice area.

Our members develop our educational programs. We take great pride in the quality of our offerings. Whether you are beginning your career, developing a new practice area, starting your own firm or just trying to keep up with changes in the law, the County Bar can help you gain the knowledge and skills you need. Our monthly lunch seminars feature speakers designed to help meet your MCLE requirements as well as provide practical advice in your chosen areas of practice.

SLO County Bar offers a comprehensive website. The web pages provide an excellent way to access information and resources, as well as acting as a portal to other vital legal links. The Bar Bulletin, the official San Luis Obispo County Bar Association journal, is a definitive source for notification of programs and events, and allows you to stay in touch with the Association and the entire legal community. The Bar Bulletin is published six times a year.
